Letter from the EYC Commodore

As commodore of Eastport Yacht Club, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the J/80 World Championship.  We are honored to be host club and especially proud of our Fleet 10 J/80 members. Under the leadership of our Event Chair Sharon Borland and her 50+ volunteers, we look to make you feel at home, and to provide our unique brand of hospitality. EYC, “the little club that could” will also deliver world-class race management on the water, thanks to our very own Sharon Hadsell as PRO and Jeff Borland, deputy PRO.

Without realizing it, you are part of something extra special. In partnership with Sailors for the Sea, Eastport Yacht Club has achieved Gold Status as a Clean Regatta. We have instituted 19 Best Practices that you will see in action throughout the week. The paperless registration process, convenient recycling and composting stations, the non-toxic cleaning products, and the on-the-water bottle refilling stations are just a few examples of our commitment. We are demonstrating how easy it is for regattas to become sustainable events, and are grateful for your participation.

Finally, we would like to thank those companies that are supporting our Clean Regatta efforts and this entire World Championship event, and hope that you will thank them with your patronage.

Have fun, enjoy Annapolis, and Sail Fast!
