Letter from the US Class President

J80 2014 Worlds Competitors,

On behalf of the United States J80 Class Association and Local J80 Fleet 10, we would like to welcome you to Annapolis, MD, Eastport Yacht Club and the 2014 J80 World Championship!! Countless volunteers have been hard at work over the last year and a half to make this “The” Premiere Racing event of 2014.

The Organizing Committee has lots planned for you over the coming week.  From exceptional race management from our seasoned PRO, former EYC Commodore Sharon Hadsell, to end of racing social events every day; rest assured, you’ll be full of racing and fun by the end of the regatta!  We also hope you take the opportunity to explore Annapolis and the Capital Region during the Lay Day scheduled.  We rarely get time to explore when we travel to events, and the organizers felt this was a great way to give you extra time to rest as well as actually visit Annapolis and the surrounding area.

We would be remiss if we did not take a moment to recognize a few folks who have spearheaded efforts behind the scenes.  Worlds Chair Sharon Borland aided by her “Secretary” (and husband), Jeff, have put in a herculean effort to ensure the regatta goes off without a hitch.  We’d also like to thank National Class Measurer Steve Wilkinson, Mid-Atlantic Class Measurer Liz Chadwick, along with the EYC measuring team volunteers, for ensuring everyone is up to snuff and ready to compete on a level playing field.

We truly hope you enjoy your time with us.  If you have any questions, or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to let us know.  See you on the water and at by the keg!!

Yours in Sailing,

Conor Hayes, USA  J80 Class Association President

Ramzi Bannura, J80 Fleet 10 Fleet Captain
